Hands-On Honey Workshops – Creating with Purpose
Just a few meters up the alley from the Artists’ Colony Inn, Neshika invites guests to explore the world of honey, bees, and organic products through immersive, hands-on workshops. From learning how bees create their honey to crafting your own bee-inspired products, every activity connects participants with nature, sustainability, and inclusivity. Neshika’s mission is clear: promote environmental awareness, support organic agriculture, and foster a team proudly composed of differently-abled individuals.
Meet the Founders – Chaya and Miri
The spirit of Neshika comes alive through its founders. Chaya Ben Baruch, a kidney donor and inclusivity advocate, brings her life experience as a mother to ten children—five of whom have Down’s Syndrome—into every aspect of the business. Miri Newcome, a devoted beekeeper and grandmother, ensures that every hive is thoughtfully placed, protecting the bees while allowing guests to learn about their vital role in our ecosystem. Dave Bender, co-beekeeper and photographer/videographer, works alongside Miri in all aspects of beekeeping and honey production, while capturing the Bee Safari experience for guests and sharing the wonder of the hives through his lens. Together, their paths—woven through musicology, marine biology, Chinese medicine, and visual storytelling—create a space where social and environmental consciousness meet creativity.
An Inclusive and Eco-Friendly Experience
At Neshika, every guest becomes part of the journey. Through Bee Safari workshops, visitors don protective suits, observe hives up close, and taste honey straight from the comb. Dave documents these magical moments, allowing guests to take home not just honey, but a visual story of their experience. Each session includes guided explanations about pollination, biodiversity, and the crucial role bees play in sustaining life.
The workplace itself is a model of inclusion, celebrating the contributions of differently-abled team members. Every interaction, from honey tastings to guided tours, reinforces values of participation, respect, and community. Neshika also champions organic, sustainable agriculture through careful sourcing practices, supporting local farmers, and protecting the environment, making every product—from jars of honey to handcrafted bee-related crafts—a reflection of conscious craftsmanship.
Why a Visit Matters
A visit to Neshika is more than just a workshop—it’s an invitation to connect with social and personal healing, environmental activism, and ethical craftsmanship. Guests leave not only with beautifully crafted honey or bee-related creations, but also with a visual record of their experience thanks to Dave’s photography and videography, deepening their understanding of what it means to build a business and community rooted in care, inclusion, and responsibility.
